I hate you White People

Racism is something we all still may encounter til this day. Whether it's race, gender, sexuality, religion, weight, or even height. One thing I know for a fact, never judge a book by it's cover. It's weird how much you learn about someone and know how much you have in common with one conversation. An event in history that I believe is a huge misconception is slavery.

Ok ok so African Americans are quick to blame whites for slavery. I beg to differ. From my own knowledge black people were sold and paid for. Who did the whites pay to own us? Our own people. Africans of higher power. Maybe the whites told the Africans that our labor wouldn't be too bad but it still doesn't change the fact that our own people put a price tag on us. I mean history could have turned out differently. I could understand if Africans refused to sell us and then the whites killed them off and stole us, but it didn't happened like that; at least not to my knowledge. I never blamed whites for slavery. I believe our struggle was, not worth it, but a sacrifice.

Now talking to a guy friend of mine, with possibly at little less knowledge on slavery than me, automatically pointed fingers to the whites. I questioned him on his knowledge of Africans being paid for us. He said it didn't matter! That white men didn't pay enough and took advantage of the Africans because they knew they needed money. To me this sounds like "a lady sold her baby for crack and it's ok because she needed it bad." It's nonsense and rather ignorant. I blame nobody. It just something that happened. Oh well. Get over it. It's the past.

Does racism still exist? Of course, but who cares. One person can think what they want but it doesn't change the fact that we are free and equal now.
